HOW DOES MUSIC BENEFIT CHILDREN?

Research into the benefits of music has been conducted around the world for many decades. In a recent study in the Northern Territory, learning music increased performance in NAPLAN results by 20%. Another study found there was a distinct increase in the number of neurons in a child’s brain when a child learns music. But that’s just the start! Music also:

  • Improves memory, concentration and learning
  • Enhances spatial abilities essential for higher brain functions
  • Helps improve academic outcomes
  • Helps underperforming students improve
  • Builds confidence and self-esteem
  • Improves teamwork and social skills
  • Reduces the likelihood of antisocial behavioural problems
  • Encourages self-expression – and it’s fun!

DOES MY CHILD NEED AN INSTRUMENT AT HOME?

Yes.

It is important that children have their own instrument at home in order to practice. It is important that students are practicing at least 3 times a week. It doesn’t have to be for too long; 15min can be enough. By practicing the work they have done in class throughout the week, they are able to grow their skills and improve their memory, progress at a better rate and make the most of their time with the teacher during the lessons.

You can easily purchase or hire instruments through our website for an affordable price.

NOTE: Keyboards are currently unavailable through our site.
You can find affordable keyboards at JBHIFI – Make sure they have 61 keys.

HOW DO WE TEACH MUSIC?

We teach in very small groups of 3 or 4, giving students the best combination of personal attention from their teacher and a social, interactive learning environment. Individual lessons are also available for advanced or special needs students.

Our essential music curriculum is designed according to the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) Music Syllabuses, so we can prepare students for optional AMEB examinations or VCE music. We also follow  universal music course methods, with a step-by-step teaching process that ensures a solid foundation in music theory as well as excellent practical skills.

WHO TEACHES OUR MUSIC PROGRAMS?

Because our company is run by music and management experts, we choose only those teachers who tick every box. They must:

  • Hold a university degree or a TAFE diploma in music
  • Have sound previous teaching experience
  • Have proven abilities in keeping pupils motivated and on task
  • Have a passion for music that’s really inspirational
  • Hold a Working with Children card.

All teachers have induction training and on the job training in ABC Music Group methodologies. We  conduct regular personal development workshops to ensure they can continually improve their students’ performance outcomes.

Because our teachers are so involved in our processes, we have high teacher retention rates which result in very consistent teaching for pupils.
